Our Developers work in small product teams, where we try and keep that spirit of enterprise and creativity that can only come from compact, agile and engaged teams.
You’ll be coding, designing, bouncing ideas off others, genuinely problem solving, deploying brand new solutions that you own, deploying tried and tested solutions that you still own and all in an environment that is fun, flexible and built around software development and developers.
Your day to day contacts will be your product owner, your development team leader, business analysts, project managers, test analysts and, of course, the small team of other great developers you work with day to day.
Day to Day Responsibilities
Fundamentally this a coding role, as you would expect. You will be coding in a team of 3-5 developers with a good mix of experienced, talented folks and some newer more developing resource.
Your Lead developer will guide, mentor and develop you and ensure you have the autonomy to own the role.
You’ll participate in 2-week agile sprints, with daily stand ups.
It’s an old cliché but you will consider yourself a people person, as relationship building is very important. Working with and through others is key.
You’d need to be a proper self-starter. We trust people to get on with their jobs and don’t over manage them.
We aren’t overly corporate either, so you’ll need to get your hands dirty and get stuck in.
You’ll bring some degree of experience in a couple of our key skill sets like .net C#, web api, node js, angular js/angular 2, SQL, bootstrap, aws and docker. But, we are flexible for the right person, and will happily look at similar technologies or people with one or two key strengths but who are wanting to step into the newer tech that we use.
You will be technically up to date though and at least familiar with microservices, cloud computing and modern software development techniques.
An understanding SOLID principles, clean code and good coding practice would be a huge plus.
You’ve probably been coding for years and have various private projects on the go at any one time. We’d like to hear about those, as its your enthusiasm, passion and drive to develop great solutions that make you of real interest
You’ll need to be able to work, on occasion, with ambiguity. Sometimes it’s is not always clear how to proceed. Generating options, finding a great solution and then taking responsibility for making it happen is something you will enjoy.
Comfortable with true agile development, where iterative changes are gradually but consistently applied and where the Rolls Royce solution is not always an option.
Good sense of humour combined with a friendly and communicative style. Like everyone else here!
